About the Author
Carlos Oliveira works in the area of quantitative finance, with more than ten years of experience in creating scientific and financial models in C++. During his career, Carlos has developed several large-scale applications for financial companies such as Bloomberg L.P. and F-Squared Investments. Carlos Oliveira obtained a PhD in Operations Research and Systems Engineering from the University of Florida, an MSc in Computer Science from UFC (Brazil), and a BSc in Computer Science from UECE (Brazil). He has also performed academic research in the field of combinatorial optimization, with applications in diverse areas such as finance, telecommunications, computational biology, and logistics. The code examples are overly complex for simple math and do not work. They will not compile. You may as well buy a book on how to program and plug in math functions that you can find on the internet.
The book includes accurate code listings that compile without error with one exception I found in chapter 8. I'm using the g++ compiler from the command line on my Mac and the book includes the necessary commands to compile code copied from the book.To get the LinearInterpolation example to compile in chapter 8 I had to add #include
The book tries to cover every possible topic, but the size of it makes it possible to highlight just starting point of each one. The book contains all examples code instead of having them somewhere in the web and leaving in the book just essential parts. If I've decided to buy this surely I know how to open a website and download archive with samples. I recommend to skip buying this book and focus on each topic of interest separately.
